group therapy is an experience of what became a permanent trauma and muted relief. being inducted into psychiatric care, you see people with there own self-doubts and you get the opportunity to meet the demons they face everyday. we were always told what to do and how to change for the ‘better’.
'13' didn’t find a resolve in prescribed medication or “specialized” therapists. however, we found warmth and comfort with these people, which became our own ‘group therapy’. these people, '13' included, are seen as the “mentally ill” and we are remarkable.
‘13’ generated three separate installations in LA, NY, and Chicago. The audience would experience was real conversations and stories of loss, suicide, and trauma, which were performed by Richmond Parakhen. the new york group therapy install included designer cameron cavaliere.
